We are looking for a UX Designer to join our web and digital team on a contract basis, to work on our flagship client project.

The successful candidate will genuinely care about getting the user experience right: from developing original and creative ideas to delivering delightful designs, with a careful eye for detail and usability. We need somebody who can own UX and help drive it forward for our agency.

The project you will be working on is greenfield and will be changing everything from navigation, information architecture, user journeys etc. so this is a real opportunity to really make your mark on a website that attracts over 600k visits a year.

What will the role involve?In this role, you will use your skills to deliver a wide range of creative work. You’ll strive to be an all-around problem solver: helping to design responsive websites and apps for our clients.

You’ll be responsible for helping to lead the research and design stage and delivering solid, considered design work that exceeds our users’ expectations.

Good communication skills will be essential: whether it’s championing the importance of good design; sharing your knowledge with those around you or liaising with our clients.

Responsibilities (include but not limited to):

Running required UX workshops (on client site) to help map and agree on user journeys, information architecture and user flows.

Creating wireframes, prototypes, and storyboards
Helping the client develop user personas and mapping their mental models of the tasks

Analyzing user feedback and activity, and iterating to enhance the user experience
Work closely with UI and Development to ensure they have access to flexible UI components that be composed into engaging experiences
ExperienceExamples of user-centric design, problem-solving, running UX workshops and collaborative working in a multi-disciplined, agile environment.

A solid background of defining and delivering innovative design solutions that meet customer needs as well as business challenges.

Experience of working with and contributing to design systems and principles.

An engaging and confident approach to presenting your solutions to stakeholders.

Experience in InVison/Axure or a similar prototyping & wireframing package.

Where are we based?Our office is in Ware, Hertfordshire. This particular role is flexible with the opportunity to work remote most of the time, traveling to the client site and our offices only when needed for meetings and workshops etc.

Typical Tasks And Responsibilities
User Experience Design

Some discovery has already been completed around current personas and user journeys by the client but you will need to expand and develop on these for the new website. An understanding of tangible user needs, using various research methods.

Create personas to reflect archetypal segments of audiences.

Define and map information architectures, user journeys, the logic flows, and user stories

Produce interactive and responsive prototypes and wireframes for websites, apps, and software, and run usability testing sessions to see where your designs can be optimised and improved.

Be able to utilise your problem-solving mindset and apply it to any user experience brief and challenge we are faced with

Visual Design

Understanding of industry standard design applications (such as Adobe CC Suite, Sketch, etc).

Transform prototypes and wireframes into beautiful user interface designs following brand guidelines, style tiles etc. (UI a bonus – not necessarily required)

Take creative art directions and apply them across interface templates, to create pattern libraries and design storyboards.

Project Management

Attend client meetings, from discovery stage all the way through to final handover in order to meet client requirements throughout the project.

Take ownership of deliverables on the project to push it forward, providing excellent end results, with great client satisfaction and within budget.
