Full-time User Interface Designer - Level 2 - Job ID 14305

Job Summary

Join a new team of UX and accessibility specialists all working to ensure the State of Minnesota Department of Human Services online experiences are responsive, usable, and compatible with assistive technologies. As the User Interface (UI) Designer on this team, you will create interfaces informed by user testing, accessibility standards, business and security requirements and brand standards. In addition to designing typical UI components (screens, wireframes, prototypes, icons, site navigation, themes, and templates), you will provide front-end development, testing, and style guides for a variety of projects. Bring your creativity and passion for usability to the state where you can design breakthroughs, not barriers, for all Minnesotans.


This position is temporary and includes full state fringe benefits; it is anticipated to last up to three years.

Minimum Qualifications:

Candidates must clearly demonstrate all of the following qualifications in their resume.

Position requires a minimum of two (2) years of experience in an IT related field.

Experience must include the following:
Use of design software such as Adobe Creative Suite, Balsamiq, Axure, Adobe XD or comparable.
Experience creating or updating user interface and interaction style guides.
Experience or training with a combination of programming languages such as HTML/HTML5, ARIA, CSS, SASS, Bootstrap, jQuery, Java and/or SQL.

A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field substitutes for two years of experience, or a related Associate’s substitutes for one year.
